The Royals: Benedict Royal - Character Description

Brief Personality Description:

Some people say that Benedict Royal has no sense of humor, or that he’s boring to be around.  The truth is that he’s simply quiet and incredibly smart.  Almost unbelievably smart.  He can be an interesting intellectual companion, but he’s awkward in most social situations--especially romantic ones.

Physical Appearance:
The tallest of his brothers, Benedict is gangly.  He’s thin, and awkward, all elbows and shoulders.  His eyes are a light, lazy blue, and his hair is shaggy and very dark brown.  His father is nearly constantly telling him it needs cutting.  

Dress Style:

Benedict is always wearing black, to the point where he’s been asked who died.  His suits are cut so that they fit snugly against his body, and he is often wrapped in several layers.  His thin frame makes him frequently cold.

Quirky Habits:

Few people understand the big words that Benedict uses on a regular basis.  He finds himself struggling and stuttering to explain what he’s talking about, and frequently gives up because it’s too frustrating to be surrounded by people who aren’t as smart as he is.  When he was younger, he was often found with a book in his hands rather than sports equipment.

Backstory Fragment:

Benedict has let himself be chased down and caught by a handful of girls in his adult life, but has never had the skill or drive to find a steady girlfriend.  Enter Michelle, after college.  While Benedict was in Law School, Michelle befriended the socially awkward, ultra-smart loner and spent several years trying to teach him to be normal, trying to wrestle her way into his heart.  Though all of his family and other friends could see how much she wanted to be his girlfriend, Benedict was oblivious to that fact.  It wasn’t until after she’d given up that he realized what she was trying to do.  By then it was too late.  The two are inseparable best friends, whose platonic relationship is more familial than anything at this point.

When Benedict was young, he successfully convinced his parents through cunning argument to let him stay home rather than go on the family vacation to Disneyland.

The Royals: Sophia Royal - Character Description

17, born on May 31

Brief Personality Description:

Born a twin, always a twin.  Sophia is incredibly loyal to her family, but most loyal to her brother Wally.  She’ll take his side in an argument often times even when she knows that he’s wrong.

She’s possibly the most sheltered of the Royal Children, being the youngest and only girl, though it also helps that she’s a relatively quiet, reserved girl by nature.  She has little interest in boys, and even less in drugs, alcohol or “partying” like so many of her peers.  Sophia’s motto would be “eyes on the prize” if she had any idea what the prize was.

Physical Appearance:
Much like her older brother Oliver, Sophia Royal has some amazing, bushy eyebrows.  She has a rounder face than most of her siblings, and like Benedict her hair is so dark it’s almost black.  She has the “Royal” button nose, like many of her brothers, and big, bright eyes.  

Dress Style:

She’s a girl, so she might be the most classically fashionable of the family, wearing the latest trends and keeping up with times.  She’s always in a pair of sunglasses.

The Royals: Lance Washington - Character Description

Brief Personality Description:

When he was young, Lance was always the one who came up with the ideas for grand adventures, get rich quick schemes and easy way outs.  It’s a wonder he didn’t get himself into more trouble.  His silver tongue and sharp wit were his ticket in and his ticket out of most situations.  Lance is brilliant, if a bit lazy.  His smarts got him some more scholarships, along with student loans, so he’s able to attend UCOC with Eddie.

Physical Appearance:
Lance has dark skin and short dreadlocks in his hair.  His face is round, his eyes are bright, his lips are full.  He has a broad chest, strong arms, and large hands.  There are dimples in his cheeks whenever he smiles, and his teeth are dazzling white.  Especially when he flirts.

Dress Style:

Though he comes from a modest background, he dresses well.  He doesn’t have a lot of money to spend on clothes, so Lance takes very good care of the ones he does have.  It’s worth it to him to dry clean a shirt, rather than to chance a stain setting and have the added expense of buying a new one.

Quirky Habits:

While Lance loves to wine and dine women and almost always has a girl on his arm, though every week it’s a new one.  He doesn’t let relationships get serious in an emotional way, though he’ll absolutely let them get hot and heavy in a physical way.  Lance thinks that if he comes up with the right trick, the world will be his oyster.

Backstory Fragment:

Lance has wanted to be a Royal since he was a young lad, and he made fast friends with Eddie in their first week at boarding school.  Lance was given a scholarship to attend, otherwise he would never have been able to afford the school.  In that first week there were some boys who were making fun of him because his father was in jail.  Eddie stood up for Lance early on, and the two became best friends.  They are barely ever out of each other’s sight.

The Royals: Eddie Royal - Character Description

Edward “Eddie” Royal

22, born on Nov 10

Brief Personality Description:
Though Eddie has street smarts, he also has quite a bit of book learning in his head. He knows about people and about computers, and he can hold his own in a conversation about sports. Eddie has an amazing sense of humor, and was often playing practical jokes and pranks on his friends and siblings growing up. He’s a hopeless romantic who falls hard and fast for a pretty face.  Often puts the women he adores up onto a pedestal, which gets him into trouble.

Physical Appearance:
Eddie has curly, light brown hair and a long face. His button nose makes him look a bit younger than he is, though there’s a depth in his eyes that betrays how wise beyond his years he is. One might say that he has the best physical characteristics of both sides of his family. He is tall, like his older brother, Benedict, and athletic like Oliver. He almost always wears a quirky smirk and shows off his dimples. His hair is often shaggy and a mess.

Dress Style:
There are only a couple of dress shirts in Eddie’s closet, and those are often wrinkled nearly beyond recognition. The rest of his wardrobe consists of band or nerd culture t-shirts, cargo pants and comfortable, sensible shoes.

Quirky Habits:
Along with his older brothers Oliver and Charles, Eddie is known to throw a football around on Thanksgiving, or hit the tennis courts on Easter, or go hiking with friends and family on the Fourth of July.  Even though he's a huge geek and spends quite a bit of time in front of a computer, he has an athletic side.  He follows certain sports, but he’d much rather be playing football than participating in a fantasy football league. Then again, he’d much rather be playing a football video game.

Backstory Fragment:
Eddie was absolutely crazy over a girl named Pamela in college. After several dates and a few nights together with the sock on the door handle, Pamela broke things off with Eddie and started dating her RA. Eddie took this as a personal affront.  After her betrayal Eddie turned his back on the girl, as he often does. Eddie is likely to flip flop and feel the extremes of emotion, turning from hot to cold over things and letting his temper flare. This was the case with Pamela, who he refuses to even acknowledge now that his ego has been injured.
